Women’s Soccer announces Jil White as first 2014 signee

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2014) – ETSU Women’s Soccer Head Coach Adam Sayers has announced the first member of the Bucs’ 2014 signing class, in-state product Jil White (Franklin, Tenn.) of Franklin High School.

White, a defender and four-year letter winner at Franklin, helped lead the Rebels to a 17-3-5 record in 2013 en route to being named District II-AAA Defensive Player of the Year.

The Franklin, Tenn., native enjoyed a successful high school career that included winning the TSSAA state championship in 2011 after helping Franklin to a perfect 24-0-0 record.

She earned a spot on the AAA All-State First Team and NSCAA All-South Team her senior year, and was twice named to the 11-AAA All-District Team and 6-AAA All-Region Team, respectively.

While at Franklin, White was coached by Jimmy Burchett.

Off the field, White has been an active member of the Franklin community, serving in the Franklin Girls Coalition, an organization that helps raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in addition to participating in various community service efforts.

She plans to major in exercise science at ETSU and has aspirations of becoming an athletic trainer for a high or college upon earning her degree.

White will join ETSU’s incoming signing class and returning players in transitioning back into the Southern Conference. The Bucs last competed in the SoCon in 2004.

White’s older sister, Chesney, was the leading scorer for UNC-Greensboro last season, a team ETSU will face in SoCon play.
