MACON, Ga. (Oct. 31, 2013) – Adding to ETSU’s postseason awards, Hannah Short (Bristol, England) and Jenny Pöltl (Steinberg-Dorfl, Austria) were named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team and All-Atlantic Sun Freshmen Team, respectively.

Short, who earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team for the second consecutive year, emerged as a vital two-way defender for the Buccaneers, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists, both career highs, while helping to anchor ETSU’s defense.

The sophomore defender’s 12 points were third-best on the team, trailing just Kristi Davis and newly-minted Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Sarah Zadrazil.

Three of Short’s four goals came in conference play, including a game-tying, 84th-minute header in the season finale versus Northern Kentucky which sent the game to overtime.

Short started 12 games for the Bucs and was one of just seven ETSU players to accumulate more than 1000 minutes played.

Pöltl, another ETSU player who played more than 1000 minutes this season, recorded three goals and three assists in 13 starts. Her 45 shots were second on the team, behind only Zadrazil’s mark of 51.

The freshman midfielder dished out two assists in conference play, including assisting the game-winning goal in ETSU’s 2-0 win over Kennesaw State.

One of three Buccaneers to represent their countries overseas in the World Cup Qualifiers, Pöltl becomes the third ETSU player to be named to the All-Atlantic Sun Freshmen Team in as many years, joining Jenna Caudle (2011) and Hannah Short (2012).
