First four-time single-season honoree in A-Sun history

MACON, Ga. (Oct. 22, 2012) – Junior Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) became the first four-time, single-season Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honoree in conference history Monday following her record-breaking weekend performance.

On the week, Kerns totaled 11 points with five goals and one assist. She tied Erin Ashton for the ETSU single-game goals record on Sunday, netting four in the, 5-1, win against North Florida. The hat trick was the second of the season for Kerns, making her the first Lady Buccaneer in program history to record two in a season. The only ETSU student-athlete to post two in a career was Lisa Gallagher, who did so in 1998 and 2001.

Kerns, who is a senior academically and will be leaving the Lady Bucs at the end of the year, also scored a goal on Friday, moving her season total 20 and tying for seventh most in A-Sun history. Kerns leads the conference in goals and points (44), which are both ETSU single-season records.

Entering last week, Kerns was a goal behind the nation’s leading goal scorers. When the NCAA stats come out on Monday, she will more than likely be near the top of the list once again.

Kerns Notes

- Scored five goals and recorded one assist to total 11 points in two games on the weekend.

- Became the first Lady Buc in program history to record two hat tricks in a single-season.

- Netted four goals against UNF on Sunday, tying Erin Ashton for most in a single game in ETSU history.

- Upped her goals total to 20 and her points total to 44, which leads the A-Sun and are both ETSU single-season records.
