Junior totals two assists and one goal over the weekend

MACON, Ga. (Oct. 1, 2012) – Junior defender Samantha Kron (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) registered four points in ETSU’s two conference games this past weekend, and was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week when the league announced its weekly award winners on Monday.

Kron had fantastic individual performances in ETSU’s split weekend. The Paradise Valley, Ariz. native put together the first multi-assist game of her career on Friday, helping the Lady Bucs equalize and then take the lead in the win, 3-1, over Kennesaw State. Both assists came off corner kicks, where Kron has thrived in her three-year career. On Sunday, she scored the lone ETSU goal off another set piece, driving in the equalizer against Mercer off a free kick from a few yards outside the 18-yard box.

The weekend doubled Kron’s goals, assists and points totals. She now has two goals, four assists and eight points on the year, with her other goal coming on another free kick in September at Longwood.

The honors are the first of Kron’s Lady Buccaneer career, as she becomes ETSU’s second defensive player of the week recipient this season – Sierra Campbell (Thompson’s Station, Tenn.) was selected the week of Aug. 20. In total, the Lady Bucs have earned five player of the week selections.
