JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2012) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers announced his third signee for the 2012-13 recruiting class on Wednesday, as Jasmine Elliott (Preston, England) has signed her National Letter of Intent to play next season for the Lady Bucs.

“I am very excited about Jasmine [Elliott] joining us,” Sayers said. “She has extensive experience at the international and club level. In addition to being a very good goalkeeper technically, she has always displayed an exemplary attitude and commitment to her career, evidenced by her achievements at club and international level, and the various accolades and recognition she has received. We are thrilled to have her as a part of the team at ETSU.”

Elliott comes to ETSU having international playing experience. The English keeper has played in goal for England’s U17 national team, earning appearances in phase one and two of the European Championship qualifying stages. She made her U17 national team debut on Oct. 3, 2010, ensuring a shutout against Turkey in a 2-0 England victory. She has seven caps in total for the U17’s, and received her first cap for England’s U19 team last year against the Republic of Ireland, earning her second cap in a 3-1 win against Holland. In addition to featuring regularly for England, Elliott was also selected for the British Colleges squad in 2011.

At the club level, Elliott has been a member of Blackburn Rovers for the last five years. As a junior goalkeeper at Blackburn, Elliott was named Goalkeeper of the Year at the club’s Centre of Excellence and cemented her place as the reserves’ number one. In recent seasons, Elliott has made many appearances for both the reserves and the first team, playing several games in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division. Prior to joining Blackburn, Elliott played for Preston North End, enjoying league and cup success. While at Preston, they won the British National Cup, with Elliott being named goalkeeper of the tournament.

Aside from playing, Elliott has put in 300 hours of coaching for the Blackburn Rovers C of E squad, as well as coaching for the Lancashire Schools Football Association. A gifted multi-sport athlete, Elliott was also a member of North of England’s U14 basketball team, but chose to pursue soccer.
