Cullowhee, N.C. (Aug. 27, 2009) - After a hard fought first match last weekend, the ETSU women's soccer team look to pick up its first victory of the season with a 7:00 p.m., contest Friday night at Western Carolina.

ETSU (0-1, 0-0 A-Sun) enters the match after falling at No. 23 Tennessee, 2-0. Senior forward Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) and junior midfielder Jessica Huntington (Newsport News, Va.) lead the Buc offense with two shots. Both offensive threats paced ETSU early in the first half against Tennessee, outshooting the Lady Vols 4-3.

Defensively, ETSU held the reigning Southeastern Conference champions to six shots on goal, while sophomore goalkeeper Megan Masch (Virgina Beach, Va.) had a game-high four saves.

Western Carolina (1-0, 0-0 SoCon) welcomes the Bucs into the Catamount Athletic Complex after defeating Gardner-Webb 1-0 last Friday, in front of an opening day crowd of 426 fans. Senior forward Katie Kole fired in the game winner with less then five mintues remaining in the contest.

The defending Southern Conference champions are led by junior goalkeeper Caitlin Williams. Williams stopped both Gardner-Webb attempts for her 15th career shutout. Williams currently ranks third in the Western Carolina record book for saves (154) and shutouts.
