OXFORD, Miss. (Sept. 10, 2009) - After picking up its first victory last week, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to contiune its winning ways as they open the first of three straight road matches with a 8:00 p.m., contest Friday at regionally ranked Ole Miss.

The Bucs enter their contest with the Rebels with a 1-4 record, with three one-goal defeats among their losses.

In its last road game, ETSU showed its toughness dropping reinging Big South champion Radford, 2-1. After the Highlanders tied the match late in regulation, ETSU immediately moved down the pitch where sophomore midfielder Genna Petersen (Loveland, Ohio), took a long pass down the right side. The second year starter then crossed an outstanding pass over to junior forward Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.), who fired home the game-winner with two minutes to play.

Also leading the Bucs individually are senior forward Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) and sophomore keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.). Monty leads the ETSU offense with two goals on 14 shots, while Masch sits third among Atlantic Sun Conference keepers with 24 saves.

The Rebels (3-1-0) welcome the Bucs to Ole Miss Soccer Stadium after rolling in their last three contests. After outscoring its opponents 10-0 last week, Ole Miss climbed to No. 7 in the recent NSCAA South regional poll.

Individually, junior Taylor Cunningham and freshman Arielle Cohen lead the Ole Miss offensive attack. Both forwards are among the Southeastern Conference scoring leaders, with three goals and seven points apiece.

On the defensive side of the ball Ole Miss has dominated the opposition this fall. The Rebels backline has posted three shutouts, in addition to allowing only one goal in 19 shot attempts.

In their only previous meeting the Bucs opened the 2006 sesaon with a 2-0 loss at Ole Miss.
