JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 4, 2008) - After opening the season with back-to-back wins, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to improve on its best start since the 2003 season, as the Bucs host Vanderbilt, with a 4 p.m., Friday match at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

The Bucs enter the contest with a 2-0 overall record, after they defeated Morehead State, 2-1, in overtime last Sunday. After a quick goal by the Eagles in the first two minutes of play, ETSU showed its character as freshman forward Genna Petersen (Loveland, Ohio) headed in the game-tying goal with less then three minutes left in regulation. In the overtime period, with the entire Bucs team standing in support, junior forward Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) found teammate Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) for the game-winning goal in the 97th minute.

Vanderbilt enters the contest with a 3-0 overall record, picking up wins at Atlantic Sun rival Belmont, Middle Tennessee and South Florida. Offensively, the Commodores have outscored their opponents four goals to one, and are lead by sophomore forward Molly Kinsella. The preseason All-Southeastern Conference member has posted a goal and an assist through the first three contests.

Also the ETSU women's soccer team, along with the ETSU athletic marketing department, is proud to announce all youth soccer players and teams that attend this Friday's match and wear their team jerseys will receive free admission.
