JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2004) - In their final home game of the 2004 season, the East Tennessee State University women's soccer team tied Appalachian State University 0-0 in double overtime at Liberty Bell Field. With the tie the Bucs move to 5-7-4 overall, 2-4-4 in the SoCon, while the Mountaineers' record stands at 9-8-1, 4-5-1.

Prior to the start to the game the Jennifer Field's (Mount Airy, Md.) the lone senior on the Buccaneer squad was recognized in a traditional senior night ceremony.

In the first half with emotions running high, the Bucs made a strong offensive effort and led the Mountaineers in shots eight to five. However, the scoreboard remained unlit heading into the second half.

The intensity continued to build on both sides as the game progressed with each team looking to break the silence. However, at the end of regulation and two overtime periods, the score would remain scoreless for the final tie decision.

"The only thing that would have made this better would have been a win for senior night," stated Head Coach Heather Henson. "The team laid it all on the line tonight for Jennifer. Our attacking was more in sync, but we just need to get the bounces going for us."

Christine Parks (Annapolis, Md.) made 12 saves for the Bucs in goal and holds a 3-4-3 record, while Breland Meany made 11 saves for the Mountaineers and is 8-6-1 overall.

"Christine made some critical game-deciding saves for us tonight and I'm very proud of her performance," said Henson.

The Buccaneers will now travel to their last regular season match of the 2004 season in Spartanburg, S.C. against the Furman Paladins on Sunday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m.

"We're still fighting to get into the SoCon tournament and we won't give up without a fight," commented Henson.
