Women's Soccer Shuts Out Lady Govs, 2-0

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (August 31, 2003) - The East Tennessee State University women's soccer team (2-0 overall) shut out Austin Peay in their second game of the Lady Gov Classic. Freshman Rebecca Murray (Franklin, Tenn.) scored the game-winning goal for the Buccaneers at 20:10 of the first half. Alexandra Schwark (Strongsville, Ohio) and Erin Ashton (New Bern, N.C.) assisted on the goal. In the second half, freshman Emily Fulcher (New Bern, N.C) added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute of play. Ashton earned her second assist of the game on Fulcher's goal. The shut out was the second shut out this season for senior keeper Heather Sanden (Manassas, Va.). The Buccaneers return home this Friday, Sept. 5th for their first regular season home contest against the Belmont Bruins. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.
