JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 30, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University women's soccer program has earned the honor as being a NCAA Division I Soccer Program that has improved significantly from the 2002 season to the 2003 season. The Bucs improved their record from 3-6-1 Southern Conference, 6-11-1 overall in 2002 to 7-4-0, 12-6-0 in 2003. The 12-6-0 overall record is the best record in the history of the women's soccer program at ETSU and included first ever wins over Southern Conference opponents College of Charleston, Davidson, Georgia Southern, and Western Carolina. "This is a great honor for the team to receive," said head coach Heather Henson. "It shows how dedicated our team is to making huge strides and improvements in the program and the continuation of these improvements in upcoming years." Other teams included in the Top 10 Most Improved Division I women's soccer programs were Florida, Illinois, and Notre Dame.
