Women's Soccer Begins Practice

Thursday, August 15, 2002

Johnson City, Tenn. (August 15, 2002) - East Tennessee State's women's soccer team began practicing for the rapidly approaching 2002 season this week. The Bucs arrived on Saturday, Aug. 10 and had a series of team functions and meetings before their first practice on Tuesday, August 13.

ETSU looks to build on last year's success with a mixture of old and new. The Bucs return all but two players from last year's roster. Besides all of the familiar faces, fourth-year head coach Heather Henson has brought in 12 newcomers making 2002 her largest recruiting class ever.

Henson and company defeated Wofford 4-3 in overtime of their final match of 2001. The squad hopes to pick up right where they left off last year when they open the 2002 season at Radford on Aug. 30.
