Johnson City, Tenn. (September 8, 2002) - Tennessee Tech University defeated the ETSU women's soccer team 2-1 Sunday. Tennessee Tech got on the board first as Barbara Tomaszek scored off an ETSU mistake that found keeper Heather Sanden (Manassas, Va.)pulled out of the box. ETSU would come back in the second period to tie the game at one apiece as sophomore Erica Odom (Jesup, Ga.) headed the ball into the net off of a Liz Smith (Arden, N.C.) corner kick. In the 78th minute of play Tennessee Tech's Jill Burns drove the game winner into the net, off of an assist by Myranda Hill. "Tennessee Tech is a very good team, but we have got to stick to our game plan," said ETSU head coach Heather Henson. ETSU fell to 2-2, 1-0 in conference play. With the win Tennessee Tech moves to 3-0-1 overall. The Buccaneers will return to action September 16th at Samford University, with their next home game coming against Southern Conference foe UNC Greensboro on September 20th at 7:00.
