ETSU Soccer Dominated by UNCG Spartans
Friday, September 28, 2001Greensboro, N.C. — The UNC Greensboro Spartans (5-3, 2-1 SoCon) dominated the East Tennessee State Buccaneers (1-6-1, 0-3 SoCon) Friday night. The UNCG freshman duo of Rakel Logadottir and Jaime Ableman each recorded a hat trick to lead the Spartans past ETSU, 1-8, at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Logadottir opened the scoring for UNCG in the 9th minute with her third goal of the season. Ableman put the Spartans up, 3-0, with a pair of goals in the 23rd and 25th minute. The Spartans kept applying pressure on ETSU throughout the second half. Ableman tallied her sixth goal of the season at 53:01, while Logadottir added a pair of goals in the 62nd and 78th minute, respectively. Kate Dylag and Megan Bynum each added a goal each. ETSU's lone goal came from Kristin Redfern at the 51st minute, which is her fifth goal of the year. Redfern took three of of the team's four shots of the night. UNCG dominated the match from the opening whistle. The Bucs were out-shot 33-4. UNCG used two goalkeepers and each registered one save on the night. The Buccaneers will travel to Davidson, N.C. on Sunday, Sept. 30th to play the Davidson Wildcats at 2:00 p.m.
