Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State head soccer coach Heather Henson has announced that Lisa Cain (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Jennifer Meslar (Chantilly Va.) has committed to play soccer for the Bucs in 2001.

Cain, a four year letter-winner at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, S.C. was named to the S.C. Region I 4-A all-conference team in 1998,1999, and 2000. During her sophomore season she had 15 goals and seven assists while setting the school mark in both categories. Her team also captured the 1999 S.C. Region 4-A state championship while finishing 22-3 on the season. After moving to sweeper for the 1999 and 2000 seasons, she notched eight goals and seven assists in the 1999 campaign. For the 2000 season she had seven scoring strikes while dishing out five assists. As a member of the GFC-USA Classic team, she won four state titles and made two semifinal appearances.

"We are excited about Lisa's desire to become a part of our soccer family. She has proven herself at the high school and club levels and should be able to continue her success at East Tennessee State," said head soccer coach Heather Henson.

Jennifer Meslar, also a four year letter-winner, comes to East Tennessee State from Chantilly High School in Chantilly, Va. A team captain, she led her high school squads to the district championship as well as to the regional quarterfinals. Meslar also played on the Springfield Azzuri club team which won the division championship in the fall of 2000 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the State Cup.

"Jennifer has a lot to offer our program with her experience and desire. She comes from a traditionally strong club program that does a great job preparing players for the next level. Jennifer is strong and athletic, which will help in the Southern Conference" said Henson.
