Lady Bucs to compete next weekend at Winthrop
Oxford, Ohio (September 11, 2011) - The ETSU women's soccer team will have to wait until next weekend for a chance at its fifth-consecutive victory, as the final match of the RedHawk Shootout against Miami University has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
The two teams waited out the storm for over an hour and a half after the scheduled 3 p.m. start time as rain soaked the field. After the storm passed, game officials decided it was in the best interest of the student-athletes to call the game due to the extremely poor and unsafe field conditions.
Defeating Wright State, 2-1, in their first game of the RedHawk Shootout on Friday, the Lady Bucs extended their win streak to four games - their longest since winning a program-best five in a row on Nov. 7, 2007. The Lady Bucs remain one game shy of the program-record for consecutive wins, and will look to tie the record next weekend.
That opportunity will come when the ETSU women's soccer team travels to Rock Hill, S.C. on Saturday, September 17, to take on Winthrop at 7 p.m.
