JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team fell in a hard-fought battle to North Florida, 2-1 on Friday afternoon. The Bucs fall to 4-2-2 overall and 0-1-0 in A-Sun action, while the Ospreys improve to 2-6-1, 1-0-0.

The Ospreys jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half as Elizabeth Gowan netted her first goal of the game from Tiffany Wiggen in the third minute and then scored her second goal on as her corner kick dropped just inside the line in the 11th minute.

Newcomer Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.) put the Bucs on the scoreboard as she connected with Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.) for her third goal of the season with just under two minutes remaining in the half.

In the second half, both teams continued to battle but were unable to convert.

Brinkman led the Bucs with five shots, while Green made four and Jordan Monty (Mesquite Texas) contributed two. ETSU outshot North Florida 13-8 for the game and earned four corner kicks and held the Ospreys to just two.

"We didn't come out to play at the first whistle today," said head coach Heather Henson. "North Florida did a wonderful job of taking advantage of that and were able to score two quick goals and we just weren't able to overcome that."

The Bucs will be back in action on Sunday as they host the Jacksonville Dolphins at 1:00 p.m. For all ETSU women's soccer action visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
