JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (November 7, 2003) - Sophomore Erin Ashton (New Bern, N.C.) has been named to the 2003 Academic All-District IV Women's Soccer First Team. The team was selected by CoSIDA. Ashton, who is majoring in biology, was selected based on her accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom.
Ashton is one of four individuals on this year's squad to play and start in all 18 matches and also played and started in all 18 matches last season. She leads the team in scoring for the 2003 season with ten goals and seven assists for a total of 27 points. She also led the team in scoring her freshman year with 12 goals and five assists for 25 points. Ashton holds the school record for most goals scored in a single season with her 12 last year and most goals scored in a game with four in ETSU's 9-0 victory against South Carolina State.
Earlier this week, Ashton was named to the 2003 All-Southern Conference Second Team. She was also named to the dean's list, ETSU honor roll, and Southern Conference academic honor roll for the 2002-03 school year. Ashton is also a second-year member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society.
