ETSU women fall off the pace at Lady Paladin

            GREENVILLE, S.C (Sept. 19, 2009) - Posting a score that was eight strokes higher than its first round effort, the ETSU women's golf team dropped from a tie for first place to fifth place during second round action Saturday in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted at the Furman University Golf Course.

 

            The Buccaneers remain in contention, just nine strokes back of second round team leader Nova Southeastern, the defending NCAA Division II national champions. In addition to their team standing, ETSU senior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) is tied for sixth, just four strokes back of the tournament's individual leader.

 

            ETSU, which posted a team score of 306 on Friday and a 314 on Saturday, got another solid effort from sophomore Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria), who carded her second straight score of 77 to finish tied for 11th. Other Buccaneer results included a tie for 35th by sophomore Malin Mansson (Kalmar, Sweden), and a tie for 44th by fellow sophomore Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain).,

 

            Third and final round play at the Lady Paladin Invitational will begin Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Golfstat.com will provide live scoring, with ETSUBucs.com posting a complete wrap up following the day's action.
