STOCKBRIDGE, Ga.  (March 31, 2009) - After holding second place following first and second round play in the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate at the Eagle's Landing Country Club, the ETSU women's golf team was unable to make a move at the team title Tuesday during the final day of action, falling to fourth place on the team leaderboard.

The Bucs fired a final round team score of 308 and finished two strokes back of third place Chattanooga, three strokes back of second place Furman, and 12 strokes off the pace of team champion and host Georgia State. ETSU was led individually by junior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia), who fired a team-best 74 on the final day to finish tied for 11th, nine strokes back of individual champion Sandra Maier of Georgia State.

"We had two great rounds yesterday - really probably two of our best back-to-back rounds all spring," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. "We did have a bad day today. But are bad days are getting better. It was a 308, but we still finished behind three teams that are all right there with us in the rankings. There were a lot of positives for us to take from this tournament, and now we're just looking to get some rest and prepare to make another run at our second straight conference championship."

The Buccaneers, who finished second in this event one year ago, also got a strong effort from freshman Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria), who finished tied for 19th, while sophomore Kennie Leigh Eisenhower (Newport), senior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) and junior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) all finished tied for 22nd.

ETSU gets a two week break from play before returning to action April 13th in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships. For more on ETSU women's golf, visit ETSUBucs.com.
