KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 29, 2007) - With second round play postponed due to darkness, the ETSU women's golf team left the course Monday with two players contending for the individual championship and the team tied for fourth in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club.

Seniors Maria Ringdahl (Farjestaden, Sweden) and Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) are leading the ETSU attack, with Ringdahl tied for second place at 2-over for the tournament, while Giraldo is tied for fifth at 3-over for the event. Ringdahl is within one shot of the lead, while Giraldo is two off the pace. As a team, the Bucs are tied for fourth and just six strokes out of second place, while East Carolina holds a solid 11-stroke advantage over second place Kansas State.

"It is great to see Maria and Natalia really play well and provide that senior leadership for our team," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds Shelton. "We've gained a lot of confidence in our last two events this fall and we want to end our fall schedule on a high note this weekend. We're off to a good start so far."

The ETSU women will return to action in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate Tuesday, with the completion of second round play and third round action scheduled to start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
