KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2007) - Continuing to build momentum heading into the spring season, the ETSU women's golf team wrapped up Tuesday's final day of action in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club, posting a final team standing of sixth place.

Senior Maria Ringdahl (Farjestaden, Sweden) led the Bucs individually with a tie for seventh at 9-over 225 for the tournament, while fellow senior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) also enjoyed a strong showing with a tie for 14th at 13-over 229. Nebraska's JC Stevenson won the individual title with an even par score of 216.

The Bucs finished 23 strokes off the pace set by team champion East Carolina, but ETSU placed ahead of teams such as Iowa State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Baylor and Miami. The Bucs also ended the event ahead of former Southern Conference rivals Western Carolina, Chattanooga, Charleston, and Appalachian State, and current Atlantic Sun foe Campbell.

"It was a big positive for us to beat Campbell, because they're our biggest conference rival," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds Shelton. "But it's also good to beat teams that are ranked higher than us right now, like Iowa State, Indiana and Baylor. For Maria and Natalia, it was good to see those types of solid performances and providing leadership like that."

Along with Ringdahl and Giraldo, sophomores Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) and Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) both finished tied for 47th. As a team, the Bucs end their fall season with four finishes of sixth or better in their five events, including a third place and a second place showing.
