BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (March 10, 2006) - Sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) fired a first round score of 77 to lead the ETSU women's golf team Friday at the Lady Gamecock Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina at the University Club. The Lady Bucs are currently 10th on the team leaderboard after the opening round.

 

            Tennessee leads the team competition by one stroke over Furman, while Florida State and Virginia are just two strokes back of the top spot. Meanwhile, on the individual leaderboard, Caroline Westrup of Florida State fired a 2-under 70 on the first day and leads by two strokes over Tennessee's Golda Johansson.

 

            Along with Giraldo, ETSU senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) is currently tied for 27th at 6-over for the tournament, while sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) is in 37th at 7-over.

 

            Second round play in the Lady Gamecock Classic will take place on Saturday, followed by third round action on Sunday. For complete results, visit ETSUBucs.com at the end of each day's play.
