Lady Bucs currently fourth at SoCon Women's Golf Championships

Saturday, April 23, 2005

GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 23, 2005) - With one day to play in the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships, the East Tennessee State University Lady Bucs are currently fourth on the team leaderboard following Saturday's second round play at the Furman University Golf Course.

ETSU entered the day in second place, nine strokes back of host Furman. However, at the end of Saturday's play, the Lady Bucs are now well back of the Lady Paladins and in need of a significant rally on Sunday. Elon is currently second in the team competition followed by College of Charleston.

On the individual leaderboard, ETSU junior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) is currently in fifth place at 7-over for the tournament. Barton trails Furman's Jenny Suh for the tournament lead by six strokes. Other ETSU results included a 12th-place finish by freshman Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia), while freshman Maria Ringdahl (Oland Sweden) is currently tied for 17th.
