ETSU women's golf finishes day one of the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in tenth position

(March 8, 2003) - The East Tennessee State University's women's golf team finished day one of the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina University in tenth place. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,093-yard Bradford Creek Golf Course in Greenville, N.C. The tournament was scheduled to begin on Friday, but was postponed until today due to inclement weather. The Buccaneers were led by junior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville, Tenn), who tied for 14th after shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the first round. Fletcher is five shots back of a three-way tie for first at 2-under-par. Freshman Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) was the next ETSU finisher, tying for 36th at 7-over-par (79). Sophomore Alysa Few (London, Ontario) shot a first-round 80 to finish in a tie for 46th at 8-over-par. Freshman Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario) finished in a tie for 58th after carding a 12-over-par 84. Sophomore Robin McCarley (Johnson City, Tenn.) rounded out ETSU's day on the links, shooting a 14-over-par 86 to finish in a tie for 63rd in Saturday's first round. The Bradford Creek Intercollegiate will conclude tomorrow morning, with the Buccaneers teeing off Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
