GREENVILLE, S.C (Sept. 20, 2009) - Due to heavy rains and unplayable conditions, the third and final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational was cancelled Sunday afternoon at the Furman University Golf Course. The final results reverted back to Saturday's second round results.
With those developments, the ETSU women's golf team finished nine strokes back of team champion Nova Southeastern, the defending NCAA Division II national champions. In addition to their team standing, Buccaneers' senior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) tied for sixth, just four strokes back of the tournament's individual champion Sandra Changkija, also of Nova Southeastern.
ETSU, which posted a team score of 306 on Friday and a 314 on Saturday, got another solid effort from sophomore Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria). Muehl carded her second straight score of 77 on Saturday and finished tied for 11th. Other Buccaneer results included a tie for 35th by sophomore Malin Mansson (Kalmar, Sweden), and a tie for 44th by fellow sophomore Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain).,
The ETSU women will return to action at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate beginning Oct. 19 in Greenville, N.C. For more on ETSU women's golf throughout the 2009-10 season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link.
