STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (April 3, 2006) - Sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) fired a 4-over 76 and finished tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard, helping lead the ETSU women's golf team to a tie for sixth in the team standings following first round play Monday in the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State University at the Eagle's Landing Country Club.
While Giraldo was the top ETSU finisher on Monday, Kentucky's Ali Kicklighter and Georgia State's Joanna Klatten posted 1-over 73s to hold the opening round lead heading into Tuesday's final day of play. On the team leaderboard, the Bucs are nine strokes off the pace set by leader East Carolina, which holds a two-stroke advantage over second place Coastal Carolina and Memphis.
As for other ETSU results, senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) finished tied for 24th, while freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) and sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) are tied for 31st and 43rd, respectively.
