Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 9, 2002) -- The East Tennessee State women's golf team improved Tuesday's second-round score by eight strokes over their Monday round to move up the leaderboard and finish in fourth in the Catamount Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Carolina, from the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C.
ETSU fired a 308 in Tuesday's final round after shooting a 316 Monday's opening round. Coastal Carolina won the tournament after blistering the course for a first-round 294 and a second-round 295.
East Tennessee State senior Mimmie Dymling (Sollentuna, Sweden) carded a career-low 73 in the final round of play an finished a team-best fifth in the tournament (76-73=149). The 73 ties an ETSU season best. Sophomore Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 13th (79-76=155) after firing a 76 in Tuesday's play. Senior Catalina Zuluaga (Cali, Colombia) tied for 20th in the event (78-79=157) after firing two consistent rounds in the tournament.
Freshman Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) shot a final-round 80 to finish in a tie for 37th (83-80=163). Fellow freshman Alysa Few (London, Ontario) rounded out ETSU's tournament, tying for 50th (86-83=169) after shooting a 83 during Tuesday's round.
Buccaneer senior Susan McKinney (Rogersville, Tenn.) played well as an individual, tying for 39th (87-77=164) after shooting a final-round 77. The 77 is the best round of McKinney's career.
The Buccaneer women's golfers continue on the road, returning to action in the JMU Lady Duke Invitational, Apr. 13-14 from Harrisonburg, Va.
