Lady Bucs release Crider; Good leaves program

Thursday, April 29, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 29, 2010) - Head ETSU women's basketball coach Karen Kemp and her staff announced Thursday afternoon that freshman post player Ashley Crider (Orlando, Fla.) has been released from the Lady Bucs, while freshman local product Johneshia Good (Johnson City) has decided to leave the program.

Crider, a 6-2 post from Orlando, appeared in 13 games for the Lady Bucs and averaged 4.0 minutes per contest. The Florida native scored her first collegiate points and collected two rebounds in the 82-54 win over North Florida back on Dec. 5, 2009 inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.

"Ashley is a bright, young lady and I wish her the best of luck in the future," added Kemp. "After speaking with Ashley, I felt it was in her best interest to pursue her academic and athletic career elsewhere."

Meanwhile, Good - a local Science Hill High School standout - decided to leave the Lady Bucs after playing one year at ETSU. In her rookie season, the Johnson City, Tenn. native averaged 7.5 minutes in 22 games played. Good scored a career high 10 points in the 82-59 win over Lipscomb and dished out four assists against Belmont and at Kennesaw State.

"Johneshia came to me saying she had lost love for the game and decided to devote more time to her studies," added Kemp. "She is a Niswonger scholarship recipient and I respect her decision. We have gone ahead and granted her a release if she does plan to establish a career elsewhere."

With the loss of these two Lady Buccaneer players and the departure of seniors Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) and TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.), ETSU now has three open scholarships remaining for the 2010-11 season.
