Over 975 pounds of food was collected for the Second Harvest Food Bank on Saturday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 8, 2009) - Last Saturday, the ETSU women's basketball grant team partnered with WCQR to host "Family Day" during the Lady Bucs' Atlantic Sun Conference opener versus North Florida inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.

The special day turned out to generate huge results, as over 3,000 people entered the doors to see live entertainment with up-and-coming artist John Waller performing a pre-game concert, but also the Lady Bucs defeat the Ospreys, 82-54. Following the game, the ETSU women's basketball team and members from the cheerleading and dance squad conducted free post-game clinics on the court for all the children in attendance.

In addition to the entertainment, free food and giant inflatables, the Lady Buccaneer faithful took full advantage of the $1 admission ticket for this event. Those who entered the doors inside ETSU's Mini Dome on Saturday with a canned food item received the special admission price. After collecting the canned food items, over 979 pounds of food was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank - marking one of the largest one-day drives in WCQR history.

"Overall, we met our goals, as the Family Day festivities generated a lot of positive results," commented ETSU's Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Sara Hacker. "I want to thank WCQR for all their support in making this special day a huge success. Hopefully all those in attendance enjoyed the atmosphere. We hope they come back and join us throughout the remainder of the season to participate in our other promotions."
