MACON, Ga. (Jan. 19, 2009) - Junior TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) enjoyed a magical week as she helped guide the ETSU women's basketball team into sole possession of first place in the conference standings. After posting astonishing career marks, Wiles was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Wiles was one key component to helping the Lady Bucs go 2-1 last week - including a perfect 2-0 in A-Sun play.

The versatile star began play scoring a game-high 18 points in the 64-54 loss at Liberty on Tuesday night. Wiles also tallied three assists and tied a season-high with four steals against the Lady Flames. Then, Wiles stepped her game up a new level when it matter most, as she lit up Belmont for a career high 31 points in the 69-51 thrashing over the Bruins on Thursday. Wiles also finished 13-of-18 from field (setting a new career mark for field goals made), grabbed four rebounds and forced three steals over the Bruins. In addition, Wiles became the first Lady Buc player to score 30+ points since B.J. Banjo netted 39 against Southeast Missouri State on Dec. 28, 2005. On Saturday, Wiles capped the week off with a 13-point, 4-assist effort in the 70-51 victory over Lipscomb. Wiles also grabbed three rebounds and tallied two steals.

For the week, Wiles averaged 20.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 3.3 steals in 31.3 minutes of action. Wiles' 31-point effort also marked the second time this season she set a new personal scoring record, as she drained 27 at Chattanooga earlier this year.

The Criminal Justice major ranks second in scoring (15.9) in A-Sun games, while her 31-point showing is tied for the best single-game performance in conference games this season.

Wiles became the third Lady Buccaneer player to win A-Sun Player of the Week honors this season, and it marks back-to-back weeks an ETSU player received the special accolade. Fellow juniors Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) won the award on Dec. 22, while Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) claimed her first award last week.

The Lady Bucs put their 10-game conference home winning streak on the line Thursday evening when ETSU hosts Campbell. Tip is set for 4:45 p.m. inside Memorial Center.
