JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 4, 2007) -  All 12 ETSU players saw action Thursday night, and 11 of them found the scoring column, as the Lady Bucs rolled past Lipscomb, 71-51, in Memorial Center. The Lady Bucs have now won three straight games, and move to 7-6, 3-0, while the Lady Bisons dropped their sixth consecutive game and fall to 3-10, 1-2.

Three ETSU players finished in double figures, with junior Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio) leading the way with 13. The Georgia connection of Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) and Jenny Norman (Peachtree City, Ga.) combined for 23 points. Evans finished with 12, while Norman added 11. Nichelle Akers (Sumter, S.C.) tied her career high with 10 rebounds and forced a season-best eight steals, which was one shy of tying the school record. Dana Carrigan and Catie Woods each scored a game high 14 points for Lipscomb.

ETSU trailed only once the entire evening as Lipscomb opened up to an early 3-0 lead to start the game. From there the Lady Bucs posted a 23-6 run and took a 23-9 lead with 12:38 remaining. The Lady Bisons would cut the lead to seven, 31-24, with 6:12 left before the half, however, ETSU held Lipscomb to only one field goal in the final six minutes to take a 39-27 lead into the break.

The Lady Bucs shot 40.0 percent (16-40) from the field in the first half and held Lipscomb to only nine field goals. ETSU tied its season-high with 15 steals in the first half, and forced the Lady Bisons to turn the ball over 17 times. Devin Thompson (Smyrna, Tenn.), Brooke Wilhoit (Sevierville, Tenn.) and Akers led ETSU with six points apiece at the half.

In the second half, ETSU scored the first five points and extended its lead to 44-27 at the 16:59 mark. During the next six and a half minutes, the Lady Buc lead would stay at or near the 17-point mark, until two free throws from Lipscomb's Carrigan cut the deficit to 11, 49-38, with 10:02 remaining. A DeVault three-pointer quickly pushed the lead back to 14. Lipscomb rallied one last time as they used a 6-0 run to get to within 10 with 6:01 left in the game, but the Lady Bucs ended the game on a 17-7 run to give them the 20-point victory.

ETSU finished with a season-high 59 rebounds, and limited Lipscomb to only 33 boards. The Lady Bucs also set a season-high by shooting 90.0 percent (18-20) from the free throw line, and forced a season-best 17 steals. Freshmen Brianna McClelland (Douglas, Ga.) and Sarah Muniz (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) each played in their first collegiate game tonight.

The home stand continues for the Lady Bucs as they host last year's regular season conference champion Belmont on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
