JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2007) - With only five regular season games remaining on the ETSU women's basketball schedule this upcoming trip to Jacksonville is a critical one. The Lady Bucs hold a game and a half lead over Jacksonville for second place in the A-Sun standings, and they will look to increase their mark  on Thursday night when they face the Dolphins inside Swisher Gymnasium at 7 p.m.

ETSU (14-9, 10-3) is coming off a solid home stand where they knocked off Gardner-Webb and Campbell last Thursday and Saturday. In those two games, the Lady Bucs reached the 80-point plateau both times and outscored its opponents 85.5 to 63.5 (+22.0). Also in those two games, ETSU hit 45.0 percent of their threes (18-40), posted 21.5 assists per game and forced 14.5 steals per contest. There were plenty of opportunities for the Lady Bucs to score as seven different players reached double figures last week. Holly Moring (Irmo, S.C.) led the way Thursday night with a season-high 16 points for ETSU, while junior Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio) finished with a game-high 21 points on Saturday over Campbell.

Jacksonville (14-8, 8-4) has won four of five and nine of its last 11 games. The Dolphins knocked off UNF, 67-52, on Saturday as Regina Omoite scored a career-high 19 points, and Ashley Williams collected her 12th career double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds). The win marked the Dolphins 14th win of the season, setting a new school record which was previously set during the 2000-01 season. Jacksonville has won nine of its 10 home games this year, and is a perfect 5-0 during conference play inside Swisher Gymnasium.

The Lady Bucs lead the all-time series, 3-0, as ETSU defeated Jacksonville, 68-61, back on Jan. 20. Despite blowing a 19 point second half lead, ETSU rallied as season-high crowd of 1,117 fans saw the Lady Bucs score the final 10 points of the game to come away with the win. The Georgia connection of Kelly Turman (Atlanta) and Siarre Evans (Griffin) led ETSU. Turman finished with a game-high 16 points (6-6 from the free throw line), and hit four clutch free throws during the final minute and twenty-five seconds to secure the victory for ETSU. Evans picked up her third straight double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs wrap up their Jacksonville trip when they play North Florida on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. inside UNF Arena. For more information on your Lady Bucs please visit www.ETSUBucs.com or click on the game notes link above.
