JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (November 9, 2005) - The Lady Bucs basketball team is set to kick off its 2005-06 home slate with an exhibition contest against Mars Hill, tonight at 7 p.m. in Memorial Center.  The Lady Bucs, coming off a 13-17 record in 2004-05, will be competing in their first year in the Atlantic Sun Conference this season.

ETSU will be led this season by senior duo Candace Gibson (Warner Robins, Ga.) and B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.), both all-conference tournament selections last season.  Gibson recently led the Blue squad to victory in the squad's Blue-Gold scrimmage, with a 17-point, 11-rebound effort.

Also back for action in 2005, are sophomores Nichelle Akers (Sumter, S.C.) and Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio), who started 28 and 30 games, respectively, last season.  Akers has had a promising preseason, tallying 16 points and seven steals in last month's Blue-Gold contest.

The Lady Bucs kick off the regular season on Nov. 20, as they travel to Starkville, Miss., to face SEC foe Mississippi State.
