JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (January 2, 2006) - Senior B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Player of the Week, following her sensational 39-point performance in the Lady Bucs' win over Southeast Missouri State last Wednesday.  It is the second time this season Banjo has received A-Sun recognition, after being named A-Sun Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 21.

The senior caught fire against the Redhawks, going 12-for-20 from the field, and 4-for-8 from three-point range.  She was also 11-for-15 from the free-throw line, and tallied a game-high seven rebounds, to go along with a pair of steals.

Banjo's stellar showing was not only a career high, but also the best scoring performance in the A-Sun this season.  Her mark ties her for eighth place on the ETSU all-time single-game scoring list.  Former Lady Buc Marsha Cowart holds the single-game mark at 52.

The senior, who is currently averaging 21.2 points per game, also made national noise as her 39 point-performance is the fourth-highest tally in the entire NCAA this season, according to statistics through Dec. 19.

The Lady Bucs are currently atop of the A-Sun at 6-3 overall, and 2-0 in Conference play.  ETSU hits its Conference slate full-time tonight, as Kennesaw State comes to Memorial Center, for a 7 p.m. tipoff.  Following their tilt with the Owls, the Lady Bucs will head to the Sunshine State this weekend for games against North Florida on Jan. 5, and Jacksonville on Jan. 7.
