JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Sept 24, 2004) - The East Tennessee State women's basketball team visited the Johnson City Children's Hospital on Thursday as part of the ETSU athletic department community service efforts for 2004-2005. Assistant Coach Kim Dowell and six of the Lady Bucs visited with patients at the Children's Hospital as well as the intensive care unit.

"This is very beneficial for our players to get into the Johnson City community and give back to the fans that support our team. We are very proud and enjoy being able to visit with the young patients at the hospital," Dowell said.

The Lady Bucs will make monthly visits to the Children's Hospital throughout the year taking a group of five to six athletes each trip. The girls will visit with patients, play games and talk to parents and family members with the children during their stay at the hospital. Each year Buccaneer athletic teams choose local organizations to work with throughout the fall and spring semesters giving back to the community.
