Lady Bucs Fall to Tennessee Tech, 90-60

The Lady Bucs were led by 12 points from junior forward Megan Jackson and 10 points from senior guard Chris Forman but they could not overcome the Tennessee Tech three-point arsenal as the Golden Eaglettes defeated ETSU 90-60 Tuesday night from Cookeville, Tenn.

Tennessee Tech senior guard Rachael Gobble tied the school record with nine 3-pointers, hitting 9-of-12 from beyond the arc. Junior Janet Holt also shined in the victory with 19 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Gobble netted a career-high 33 points, adding a 6-for-6 effort at the free throw line, and tied Dana Bilyeu's school mark of nine treys in a game. That helped the Golden Eaglettes set a school mark with 13 3-pointers, with freshman forward Andrea Brown hitting 3-for-3 bombs to compliment Gobble's performance. Brown finished with career-highs of 13 points and eight rebounds. Junior point guard Misty Garrett had 11 assists in the game.

The Lady Bucs held an early 16-10 lead but fell behind as Tennessee Tech went on a 35-11 run to finish the half. Sophomore forward Misty Copas was perfect from the field, scoring nine points on 4-4 shooting and pulling down five boards. Sophomore guard Ann Marie Gates scored six points on 3-4 shhoting and also had five rebounds. ETSU was led in rebounds by freshman forward Lauren Trantham, who had seven on the evening.

Gobble hit the first two of her six consecutive 3-pointers to knot the game at 16-16, and Tech went on to build an 18-point lead by halftime as Gobble was 7-for-8 from long range by the break.

The Lady Bucs return to action Friday against Memphis in the University of Memphis Invitational.
