JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 17, 2011) – The ETSU volleyball team will close out non-conference play with a trip to Clinton, S.C. for a matchup with Presbyterian on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. inside Templeton Arena.

ETSU (10-12, 3-4 A-Sun) is coming off a 2-1 week. The Bucs earned a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wofford at home on Tuesday in non-conference action. Then, ETSU picked up a 3-1 win at Stetson in A-Sun play on Friday before falling to Florida Gulf Coast in a wild four-set match.

Senior Kiley Tamblyn (Torrance, Calif.) had a stellar week of play defensively for the Bucs. Tamblyn recorded a career-high 31 digs in the victory over Wofford on Tuesday – the most by an ETSU player since November 11, 2008 when Jen Niece had 35 digs. Tamblyn followed up that performance with a 15 dig effort in the win against Stetson on Friday and an incredible 29 dig performance in just four-sets against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday.

Sophomore Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) continued her offensive dominance as she recorded a career-high of 26 kills in the match against Florida Gulf Coast – just three kills away from breaking the ETSU all-time record for kills in a match.

Devine continues to lead the Bucs in kills at 4.24 per set, which ranks her second in the Atlantic Sun. In addition, her 4.62 points per set also rank second in the league. Senior Jamie Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) remains the league leader in blocks at 1.15 per set. Stancliff needs just 42 more blocks to place 10th on the Atlantic Sun career blocks list. As a team, ETSU continues to lead the league in blocks at 2.18 per set.

ETSU defeated Presbyterian at home last season, 3-0, in the only other time the two teams have faced each other. Devine led the Bucs in that matchup with a team-high 11 kills, while also adding six digs and a service ace. ETSU was very efficient in the match by recording a .316 attack percentage.

Scouting the Opponent

Presbyterian enters Tuesday’s match with a 7-14 overall record. The Blue Hose are led offensively by Presley Mabrey with 3.53 kills per set, while also leading the squad and the conference with 33 service aces. Meanwhile, Ashtin Frank leads the team and the Big South Conference in assists with 10.23 per set. Presbyterian leads the Big South in assists at 11.39 per set, while ranking second in kills at 12.19 per set.

Following Tuesday’s match with Presbyterian, ETSU returns home for a pair of Atlantic Sun matches against Mercer and Kennesaw State over the weekend. The Bucs host Mercer on Friday at 7 p.m. before closing out the weekend against Kennesaw State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
