ETSU Volleyball Fills Roster with Junior College Standout

Monday, June 14, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 14, 2010) - Head coach Lindsey Devine and the ETSU volleyball team signed Kiley Tamblyn (Torrance, Ca.) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2010 season, it was announced on Monday.

Tamblyn is a 5-foot-3 libero from El Camino College in Torrance, Ca., and will compete as a junior during the 2010 season.

"Kiley is a very quick, and energetic player," said Devine. "She has such a fierce competitive attitude out on the court and she will do whatever it takes to get her hands on the ball."

Tamblyn directed El Camino to a State Championship in 2008 and an impressive 24-3 mark and conference championship last season. She was named to the 2009 All-Southern California Team and was also named as a First-Team All-State selection.  She was also recently named El Camino College Athlete of the Year and was recognized as First-Team All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) after her final season at El Camino.

This past season, Tamblyn led the South Coast Conference in digs and ranked fifth in the state with an impressive 6.0 digs per set while also adding 34 aces on the season. She was also named MVP of the San Diego Mesa Tournament.  During her freshman season, Tamblyn recorded 2.2 digs per set in earning a spot on the Second-Team All-Conference list.

Tamblyn was also a three year letterwinner for head coach Robert Kutsch at South Torrance High School where she earned All-League libero honors in 2006 and 2007 and also earning the team MVP award.

Tamblyn will join newcomers, Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tn.), Krista Hughes (Williamsburg, Va.), Nicole DeVries (Orangeville, Ill.) and Summer Kremer (Mills River, N.C.) on the 2010 squad.
