Thursday, September 10, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2009) - The ETSU volleyball team is set to host Stetson on Friday at 7 p.m. in Brooks Gym as the Bucs look to win their sixth straight contest against the Hatters.

The Bucs (2-5, 1-0 A-Sun) are 7-0 all-time against Stetson, and come into the match having defeated USC Upstate 3-1 on Tuesday in the conference opener. ETSU got a 19 kill performance from Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) in the win over the Spartans. Ryan leads the team with 66 kills on the season.

The Hatters (0-7, 0-1 A-Sun) have gotten off to a rough start in 2009. Stetson has been swept in its last four matches, and ranks last in the league in kills, assists, digs, hitting percentage and opponents' hitting percentage.  The Hatters are led by freshman setter Kelli Carneal, who ranks fifth in the A-Sun in hitting percentage (.310) and service aces (10).  Her .310 hitting percentage leads all A-Sun freshmen.

Fans who wear ETSU gear to the match will receive admission for a Buc ($1). The match can be seen live on ASun.TV by clicking on the link above. For more information on Buccaneer volleyball and all other athletic news, please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
