ELON, S.C. (Aug. 31, 2007) - Freshman Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) had her fifth consecutive game with 12-plus kills, leading the ETSU volleyball team to a win over Elon in four games, 30-24, 30-16, 22-30, 30-23.

"I am very pleased with our performance today," said Bucs head coach Lindsey Devine. "Offensively we were very strong. Desiree is a spark plug, and a couple of her swings really lifted the team."

Freshman Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va.) had double digit kills in her fourth straight game with 10, while Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also had 10 kills of her own. The Bucs also had contributions from Kaena Apana (Waianae, Hawaii), who had 3 service aces and 20 digs, and Marissa Mortensen (Elk Grove, Ill.), had 40 assists and 3 service aces. Freshman Britney Loomis (Michigan City, Ind.) was strong, sparking ETSU with seven kills off the bench.

"I think as the match went on we did well in keeping our composure and playing with confidence," said Devine. "Britney did a great job coming off of the bench for us and helped keep some rallies going."

ETSU handed Elon its first defeat of the season, while the win pushes the Bucs to a 4-1 mark after their first five matches of the early season.

The Bucs have two matches tomorrow as they take on Morehead State at 10 a.m., and Radford at 4:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Classic.
