SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 4, 2007) -The ETSU volleyball team swept USC Upstate on the road Thursday night to improve to 4-1 in conference play, 30-16, 30-19, 30-21.

"We definitely had an all-around team effort tonight, and everyone contributed in some capacity," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "I was really pleased that everyone was able to put together a strong team effort."

Freshman Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan), led the Bucs offensively with 13 kills on the night, while senior Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.), also collected 13 kills, hitting an outstanding .600 percent in the win. Marissa Mortensen (Elk Grove, Ill.), quarterbacked the Bucs offense with 42 assists.

"We reinforced that everyone needs to do something on the court, and tonight everyone produced," Devine said. "The beauty of this team is that we have depth, and we are able to utilize the strengths of this team."

Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.), led the Bucs defensively with 16 digs and had 3 service aces. Senior Kaena Apana (Waianae, Hawaii), also had double digit digs for the Bucs as she had 12 in the game.

"Lauren Baufield was good both offensively and defensively which was really nice to see," Devine said. "Callie also had an amazing game as she only had one hitting error in the game with a great hitting percentage."

With the win the Bucs improve to 13-9 overall. The Bucs finish their seven game road trip next weekend in Florida as they will take on conference opponents Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.
