CONWAY, S.C. (March 6, 2009) - The ETSU softball team carries its five-game winning streak into non-conference action when the Lady Bucs face Coastal Carolina on Saturday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Softball Field. First pitch of the double-dip is set for 2 p.m.

 

The Lady Bucs (8-3) haven't hit the diamond since sweeping day one of the 2009 Frost Classic last Friday. ETSU knocked off Boston College (7-4) and Toledo (5-4), but the last two days of the tournament were washed out due to rain.

 

A pair of freshman sluggers look to guide the Lady Bucs to a pair of victories on Saturday, as third baseman Amy Campbell (Hixson, Tenn.) leads the team in hitting (.455) and catcher Marlina Delisa (Tucson, Ariz.) carries a five-game hitting streak into tomorrow's double-header. Meanwhile, junior pitchers Darci Gilbert (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Marissa Hardy (Rocklin, Calif.) look to extend their winning streaks as well. Gilbert has won back-to-back decisions, while Hardy has won four straight since dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker to James Madison in the season opener.

 

Coastal Carolina (4-9) got off to a shaky start to begin the season, but the Chanticleers have won two straight and three of their last four. The Chanticleers are led by Michelle Evans and Mecaela Ballard at the plate. Evans is hitting a team-best (.382) and Ballard is tied with her teammate in hits (13) and runs scored (eight).
