Sixth career A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week; 2nd this season
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 7, 2013) – After helping ETSU to an unbeaten weekend in conference play, senior goalkeeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week.
Coulter recorded his conference-best sixth and seventh shutouts of the season in ETSU’s road wins over North Florida and Mercer this weekend, moving him into second place in Atlantic Sun history for most career shutouts with 22.
Coulter, the reigning Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year, is just one shutout shy of equaling Jeff Casser’s mark of 23 shutouts at Florida International University from 1992-95.
With Coulter helping anchor the defense, the Bucs (4-3-3, 2-0-0) rank third in the nation for shutout percentage (0.70) and in the Top 40 for goals against average (0.74) and save percentage (.814).
ETSU and Florida Gulf Coast will break a tie for the conference lead when the Bucs host the Eagles Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m.
