BOONE, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2013) – Despite a game-tying goal by senior Nate Hodges (Meridian, Miss.) with 30 seconds remaining in regulation, ETSU fell short Thursday night, losing to rival Appalachian State, 2-1.

With the Bucs (2-3-2) trailing 1-0 in the match’s final minute, Hodges netted an equalizer to force overtime; however the Mountaineers (2-1-5) used some last-second heroics of their own to pull out the victory.

Appalachian State’s Stanley Broaden scored the game-winner for the Mountaineers with just 33 seconds remaining in the second and final overtime. The goal was Broaden’s second of the game.

With the win, the Mountaineers avoided their sixth draw of the season, which would have tied a 30-year-old program record for most draws in a single season.

After extending its home unbeaten streak to six matches, ETSU has lost its last two games at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Buccaneers two-match loss streak is their longest since Sept. 22 of last year.

The Buccaneers will look to get back on track when they visit Radford Sunday, Sept. 29 at 6pm.
