LYNCHBURG, Va. (April 21, 2014) – The ETSU softball team will continue its 10-game road trip Tuesday, April 22 as it takes on Liberty for a non-conference double-header in Lynchburg, Va. This season, ETSU is 12-13 in non-conference action.

The Buccaneers (18-26) are coming off a 4-3 conference victory at Jacksonville in which senior catcher Jackie Baird (Ooltewah, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 from the plate, driving in four runs, her team-best 13th multi-RBI game of the year.

In the win, fellow senior Katie Wolff (La Grange, Texas) also went 2-for-3, extending her team-best hit streak to seven games. She also picked up the win, allowing three runs over four and two-third innings of work on the mound.

BUCS AMONG NATION'S ELITE

Several ETSU players rank among the nation's best, with Carter ranking second in the country for fewest walks allowed per seven innings (0.57). The Brazil, Ind., native has allowed just 10 walks in 122 and two-thirds innings on the mound en route to earning a team-best 11 wins.

Meanwhile, junior Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.) ranks six in the nation with a league-leading five triples. She has also swiped 19 bases in 21 attempts.

Baird, who leads the Bucs with 16 home runs, will enter Tuesday's match-up ranking sixth in the nation for home runs. In her last two games, Baird has gone 5-for-6 at the plate, with three home runs and seven RBI. Earlier this season, Baird become ETSU's leader for single-season home runs and career home runs.
