FRANKLIN, Tenn. (April 5, 2014) – After shooting a 10-over-par 294 in first round action on Friday, the ETSU men’s golf team carded a 299 second round on Saturday to place eighth overall on the team leaderboard with a 593 (+25) following two rounds at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

With day two in Franklin in the books, Vanderbilt has pulled ahead of Friday’s leader Alabama with an even 284 on Saturday to bring its Championship total to 573 (+5). The Crimson Tide follows in second place with a 294 second-round score and a 575 (+7) overall total, while Kennesaw State rounds out the top three with a 294 on Saturday and a 580 (+12) for the tournament.

Following a 2-over-par 73 and a tie for 19th overall with two of his teammates in the first round on Friday, Chris Hickman (Centreville, Md.) continued on Saturday with a 74 which brings his Championship total to 147 (+5) to sit in a six-way tie for 26th overall on the individual leaderboard. Trailing Hickman in the standings, Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) carded a 75 second-round score to tally a 148 (+6) two-day score and slots into a four-way tie for 32nd.

Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) posted a second-round 76, bringing his tournament total to 149 (+7) and stands in a four-way tie for 36th, while Mateusz Gradecki (Oborniki Śląskie, Poland) and Gudmundur Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland) recorded identical scores for the second-consecutive day with rounds of 75 to bring their two-day totals to 150 (+8) which also puts them in a tie for 42nd overall.

In total, Florida State’s Jack Maguire moves up from a ninth-place tie on Friday to now tops on the individual leaderboard with a second-round 66 to pull his total to 137 (-5) for the tournament. Georgia’s Charlie Martin and Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart, presently, sit in a tie for second place after back-to-back days shooting scores of 69 to bring their Championship totals to 138 (-4).       

The Bucs will begin third-round play on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. with Gradecki teeing-off at the top of the hour. ETSU will be paired with College of Charleston and Middle Tennessee State.
