Thursday, January 23, 2014

STILLWATER, Okla. (Jan. 23, 2014) - The ETSU men's tennis team will continue its difficult non-conference schedule with a pair of weekend matches in Stillwater, Okla., against nationally-ranked opponents, No. 51 Oklahoma State and No. 58 Arkansas.

LAST TIME OUT

The Buccaneers (1-2) opened regular season play last weekend, picking up a commanding 4-0 win over Brown and losing narrowly to No. 19 Wake Forest and No. 6 Tennessee.

Competing with a lineup laden with newcomers, including six freshmen, the Buccaneers performed well in their first weekend of action, with multiple Bucs finding the win column, with several three-set decisions.

One notable ETSU win was freshman Diego Nunez's (Monterrey, Mexico) victory over 34th-ranked Mikelis Libietis of Tennessee. Nunez came from behind to upset the 2013 ITA All-American, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE - Friday, Jan. 24 at 5:00 p.m.

The 51st-ranked Cowboys (3-0) will enter Friday's match-up riding a three-match win streak following 4-0 wins over Southern Illinois and South Dakota St., and a 4-1 upset win over No. 34 Minnesota. All three of Oklahoma State's wins have come at home.

Live stats for the match will be provided by Oklahoma State and can be found by visiting the Cowboy's Men's Tennis homepage.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS - Saturday, Jan. 25 at 12:00 p.m.

The Razorbacks (2-1) boast the nation's 39th-ranked doubles duo, Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott.

In its first three matches, No. 58 Arkansas picked up a pair of wins over Atlantic Sun opponent Mercer, with its lone loss coming at No. 20 Texas.
