Bucs to visit Coastal Carolina in first round of NCAA Tournament

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2013) – At a selection show party at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Monday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team received its drawing for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bucs will travel to Conway, S.C., to take on Big South Champion Coastal Carolina Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 p.m.

ETSU, making its second NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, clinched the Atlantic Sun Championship with a 3-1 win over North Florida Sunday, Nov. 17 in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Bucs (10-5-4) enter the national tournament with the top defense in the Atlantic Sun. During the season, ETSU recorded a conference-record 10 shutouts, while maintaining program records for goals against average (0.79) and shutout percentage (0.53).

Meanwhile, the Chanticleers (17-4-0) feature the nation’s seventh-best scoring offense (2.10 goals per game) and will enter Thursday’s first round match-up riding a five-game win streak. Coastal Carolina earned two wins over Top 25 opponents during the regular season, beating No. 17 Wake Forest and No. 5 VCU.

The winner of Thursday’s first round match will advance to play Charlotte Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2:00 p.m.
