Enjoy a FREE pregame pizza tailgate, while one lucky student will win Beats by Dre

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 5, 2013) – BucWild and Fox’s Pizza will hold special promotions Friday night at Brooks Gym when ETSU volleyball hosts Lipscomb in a battle for first-place in the Atlantic Sun standings.

Prior to the match, Fox’s Pizza is sponsoring a FREE pregame tailgate and fans will be treated to pizza (while supplies last), beginning at 6 p.m., in the Quad area outside Brooks Gym. During the match, one lucky student will win a set of Beats by Dre, courtesy of BucWild.

Friday’s match is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m., and both ETSU and Lipscomb are the hottest teams in the conference. The Bucs, who hold a one-game lead over the Bisons for first-place, have won six straight matches, while Lipscomb has won nine straight since suffering its five-set loss to the Blue and Gold back on Oct. 5, in Nashville. In addition, ETSU has won 12 straight home matches, while the Bucs and Bisons have accounted for the last four A-Sun Championships.

Not only are these two programs the hottest teams in the conference, but they are also highly ranked nationally in assists, hitting percentage, and kills. Lipscomb leads the country in kills per set (15.39), ranks third in assists (14.32) and is 15th in attack percentage (.276). Meanwhile, ETSU ranks 43rd in hitting percentage (.250), 53rd in assists (12.74) and 64th in kills (13.57). The Bucs also rank 24th in blocks (2.73).

Individually, Lipscomb’s Caitlin Dotson leads the country in assists per set (12.76), while Jewell Dobson ranks sixth in points (5.37) and seventh kills (4.73) per set. However, ETSU’s Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) ranks 15th in kills (4.51) and 17th in points per set (5.02), Meredith Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) ranks 11th in blocks per set (1.48) and Jamie Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) is 34th in assists per set (11.00).

With the forecast calling for temperatures hovering near freezing come game time, there’s no better place to keep warm than sitting inside the “Friendly Confines” of Brooks Gym.
